Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Sanatana Vedika (“we”, “us”, or “the app”) provides spiritual learning, Panchangam, Vratas, mantras, audio, and related devotional tools. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to our App Store app, other mobile builds, and website.

You can browse Vratas and other published content without creating an account. An account is optional and is used for features such as saving items, profile, notifications, japam progress, and similar account-based tools.

2. Information We Collect

We collect only what is needed to operate the service:

• Account information (if you register or sign in): name, email address, and password (stored in hashed form). We verify your email with a one-time password (OTP) sent to that email. A mobile number is optional and is not required for sign-up or login. Profile picture is optional.
• Google Sign-In: if you choose “Continue with Google”, Google provides your name, email address, and Google account identifier so we can create or sign in to your account. We do not receive your Google password.
• Spiritual profile (optional): Gothram, Rasi, Nakshatram, date of birth, and time of birth, if you choose to add them for personalized Panchangam or Vedic birth insights.
• Location (when you allow it): approximate or precise location while the app is in use, only to calculate local sunrise, sunset, tithi, nakshatra, and festival timings (for example, Hyderabad versus another city). We do not use location for advertising, and we do not sell location data.
• Activity data (signed-in users): japam counts, quiz progress, saved items, referrals, and similar in-app activity needed to sync your progress.
• Device and notifications: a push-notification token (Firebase Cloud Messaging) so we can send spiritual alerts you enable. You can turn notifications off in system settings.
• Camera and photos: used only if you choose to take or pick a profile photo from Edit Profile. We do not access your camera or library in the background.
• Microphone: used only if you choose Record Voice in Japam to create a short chant clip for your own japa playback. Recordings are not used for advertising. We do not record in the background.
• User content you submit: optional Divine Shorts uploads or comments, support messages, and similar content you choose to post.

Guests can use core reading and listening features without providing this information, except where a specific tool needs a permission you grant (for example, location for local Panchangam).

3. How We Use Information

• To show spiritual content, Panchangam, and features you request.
• To create and secure your account (including email OTP verification), if you register.
• To sync japam, saved items, and similar progress across devices when you are signed in.
• To send notifications you have enabled (festivals, sacred timings, news).
• To provide customer support and keep the service reliable and secure.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for third-party advertising networks, and we do not use App Tracking Transparency / IDFA advertising tracking.

4. Third-Party Services

We share information only with providers that help run the app:

• Google: Google Sign-In (if you use it) and Firebase Cloud Messaging for push notifications.
• Amazon Web Services (S3): storage for media such as images, audio, and profile pictures you upload.
• Razorpay: payment processing when optional paid support or subscriptions are enabled outside the App Store. Card data is handled by Razorpay, not stored on our servers.
• Apple: the current App Store version of Sanatana Vedika does not offer In-App Purchases. If paid features are added on the App Store in the future, they will use Apple In-App Purchase, and Apple will process payment details under Apple’s terms.

These providers process data under their own privacy policies, limited to what is needed to provide their service.

5. Payments

App Store: This version does not include In-App Purchases, subscriptions, or tips. There is no paywall in the App Store app at this time.

Other builds: Optional donations or subscriptions, when shown, may be processed by Razorpay. We do not store full card or UPI secrets on our servers.

6. Data Storage, Security, and Retention

Account and profile data are stored on our servers with industry-standard protections, including encrypted transport (HTTPS) and hashed passwords. No method of transmission is 100% secure.

We keep account data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize personal data associated with it, except where we must retain limited records for security, fraud prevention, or legal compliance.

Location used for Panchangam is used to compute timings; it is not sold and is not used for ads.

7. Your Rights and Account Deletion

You may access and update your profile in the app (Profile / Edit Profile). To delete your account and associated personal data, go to Settings → Delete Account while signed in, or email sanatanavedika1@gmail.com from the address on your account.

You may also request access or correction of your personal data by emailing us. If you are in India, you may exercise rights available under applicable Indian data-protection law by contacting us at the same address.

8. Children’s Privacy

Sanatana Vedika is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy. The “Last Updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy. Material changes may also be noted in the app.
